Note the following correction from Cousin Lenny:
The site is now revered as a church/synaogue and operated by the Greek Catholic ("Melkite") church, which is the largest Christian sect in Israel. Around half of Israel's 135,000 Christians are Greek Catholic, the remainder being either Greek Orthodox or Roman Catholic. Nazareth is the largest Arab city within Israel's 1948 borders and has a population of around 72,000 which includes around 41,000 Moslems and 31,000 Christians. Israel's total population of 7 million people is divided as follows: 80% Jewish, 18% Moslem and 2 % Christian.
Thank you Cousin Lenny. Now we feel even more pressure to be witty, to use correct English, and to get our facts straight. Oh my!
