Karmiel and the Upper Galilee

We continued north to a settlement city, Karmiel. Israel's government established this city in a strong Arab area. Israel knows that if you don't have people living in an area, the Arabs come in and take over by their very presence. Hence it is critically important to establish Jewish settlements in what have been Arab strongholds in the Galilee.
Karmiel has grown substantially largely due to the influx of Russian immigrants during the 90's when they came in great numbers, growing the population of Israel by 20% in a few years. Many were settled in the Karmiel area. In tribute to the Jews, the city designed and installed three statues. The first commemorates the holocaust, the second the immigrants to Israel, and the third, new birth and resurrection. Once again the story is, they tried to kill us, but we survived, and thrived.
